Here in Seattle there is this famous guy named Dr. John Gottman and he is the founder of The Gottman Institute. Its a husband and wife team who have been studying couples for almost 35 years. They have gotten so good at their jobs that they can meet a newly wed couple and within 30 minutes or so they can predict if the couple will be together 5 years down the road. And they are really good too, they are right about these predictions like 95% of the time, which seems crazy. He does lectures and workshops all over the world and they are always sold out but he also developed a program called Bringing Baby Home because during his research he found that in the first year of bringing a new baby home 2/3rds of couples report a 70% drop in relationship satisfaction with each other. This class has been recommended to us from several different people, they said its a great investment in our family and its also supposed to help prevent against postpartum depression and keep us in the happy 1/3 of couples who transition well with the new baby. So we are definitely going to take it after Henry gets here, they said he can come too!
Yesterday we got our last ultrasound we'll have unless something goes wrong. It was the 3d kind so it was really neat to really see him. But because my placenta is in the front it makes another inch that the sound waves have to travel through so the pictures are a little fuzzier than in someone whose placenta is somewhere else but they were still cool none the less.
Sorry I haven't updated in a while and that I'm not updating more now but I have to get ready to go meet my dad for lunch!

ReplyDeletei think couples who do bad when they have a baby are ones in which gender roles kinda get in the way. this couple came in today at my work with a small child and the guy was so macho. i was thinking that this lady probably has changed every diaper their baby.
